There are several acne treatments and products which promise to cure acne. However, these treatments can be quite expensive and thus not accessible to everyone. In this article, I will describe some simple remedies that you can do at home which are just as effective in reducing acne.
DIY Acne Remedies
Green Tea Extract
Drinking green tea is in itself good for the body. However, the antioxidants found in green tea also work as an excellent inhibitor of acne breakouts and helps keep your skin clear. These antioxidants reduce the oil found on the skin thus making it less prone to be a breeding ground for microorganisms that cause acne.
Dip a clean piece of cloth into chilled green tea and apply it on the affected area for 1-2 minutes. Repeat this process five times per session. If you have the time, it is best to do this every night.
Aside from being good food, oatmeal is also good at reducing acne. It cleanses your pores, and it also absorbs excess oil. As an additional benefit, it exfoliates your skin to get rid of dead skin cells.
Mix 1 teaspoons of honey and half a cup of lemon juice with a cup of oatmeal. Use the mixture as a mask on your face and leave it on for 20-30 minutes then wash off the mask with lukewarm water. Use this mask once or twice in a week.
This might be the most inexpensive remedy out of this list. All you need is a bowl of warm water. The steam will induce your pores to open up allowing your skin to breath’ and flush out all of the impurities.
Simply place your face over a steamy bowl of warm water for 10-15 minutes while focusing on specific areas affected with acne and then pat your face dry afterward. This may be done once a day or as you feel the need.
Fruits such as Lemons and Oranges are very effective remedies for acne. The acidic property of the citrus extract works well in killing the microbes that cause the acne and also works as an astringent to remove excess oil from your face.
Take a clean piece of cotton and soak this into the Lemon or Orange juice and apply on the affected area for at least 3 minutes. For those with sensitive skin, you may choose to add more water to the lemon juice in order to avoid irritation.
Finally, it is admittedly best to treat acne from the inside out. What you eat will show on your skin. Studies have shown that sugar and conventional dairy contribute to inducing acne. When drinking milk, make sure to consume raw milk instead. Moreover, eat green leafy vegetables, berries, and protein. It is also best to avoid soy, peanuts, and shellfish.
Try any one or a combination of these listed home remedies for acne, and you are sure to have clearer skin in a few days. Make sure to stay committed to your regimen to prevent bacteria and germs from inducing acne breakouts on your face.
